Understanding OCD
OCD is not a personality quirk or a preference for order. The intrusive thoughts are unwanted and often distressing, and the rituals are performed to ease that distress — not out of choice. Recognising this is the first step.
Areas of care
OCD is characterised by obsessions and/or compulsions. Obsessions are recurrent, persistent thoughts, urges or images experienced as intrusive and unwanted. Compulsions are repetitive behaviours or mental acts a person feels driven to perform in response.
